Window Treatments

I had a very dear friend of mine ask me to keep an eye out for window treatment trends. I am pretty simple when it comes to window treatments, and lets be honest, not very skilled in it. However, after taking a second look at the open houses I have done and some brief research my results are in...

Ceiling to floor curtains, wide slatted wood blinds (black, white, or wood colored), window fitted roman shades, and even better, electronically controlled blinds are in. The heavy drape of old that you used to see at your grandma's house in gold color is out. Some people even prefer to tint their windows to be more energy efficient. I love natural light therefore I am more inclined to go with the fitted romans and maybe even add sheer curtains for a little accent color.

In reality every house is just that, a house, until a new owner takes charge of it. The owner is who makes the house a home, and because of that, home decor is a very personal and intimate part of a home. If you are not in the market to sell your home then what window treatments you decide to use should reflect your personality. They should bring you a sense of accomplishment and happiness so much that when you sit in the room you can stare at them with pride. However, if you are in the market to sell your home then I would suggest the white or black wood blinds or the fitted roman shades to reflect an elegant yet simple touch to a staged home.

I would love to hear from you about your ideas and feedback on window treatments, and send pics too! Thanks for stopping by!
